South London A roads still passable but the snow was settling. Visibility wasn't great, but no ice, just mush. Was glad to get off the bike as I was sodden and darkness was falling...

Well I cycled in this morning. It was -5.4degs when I left home. I had to walk my bike to the main road due to compacted snow and ice. Once I got on the A21 the road seemed to be fine. Coasting down the hill it felt my eyeballs would freeze, in the end by the time I got to work it was my water bottle that froze. So not a bad commute. Kept to the main roads and it was fine, though for obvious reasons I took it slower then usual. And by the looks of things it was safer cycling on the road then for peds walking on the pavements. They were very icy. Saw one fellow go arse over tit as he went to cross a road.

Having used the tube so far this week and felt disgusted by it and with myself, yesterday i resolved NO MATTER WHAT, i would cycle.

I took great care, and got in and 99% of the way home perfectly fine, however I was felled by the ice on my last turning. A nice lady in a 4x4 stopped to check i was ok. I was fine, but very glad there wasnt a bus behind me!

Today, i was back on the tube  Ah well, tube home won't be so bad as ill be nice and drunk!
