I'd pay some for the radio. Since they went all digital my reception is rubbish anyway. The BBC rarely televise anything I am interested in.

Close it down and feck 'em all off, Mrs McGinty would miss The Archers but she'll get over it.

No. Most of the things I watch aren't on the BBC channels. I can't think of a single thing I'd miss on BBC to be honest!

It's bleedin' ingrates like you that will condemn my children and grandchildren to a lifetime on lowest common denominator euro-telly punctuated by 5 minutes of inane advertising every 20 minutes.

(Actually of course even my kids barely watch telly at all...and what they do watch they watch online, when they want, how they want. It's luddites like me who get shafted.)

Nope.

Almost never anything I want to watch on the Beeb, seems to be a mind numbing collection of soaps, crap reality programs and hackneyed costume drama mainly.

I'd probably not to be honest. Most of the TV we watch is on paid for channels and pre-recorded so adverts are no longer an issue.

I'd happily pay for a radio only subscription as all I listen to is 5Live and Radio 4 while my wife is big a 6 Music fan.

I was going to make the radio point too, the BBC output that way is superb, always something interesting on somewhere. Plenty of the sort of local & general interest programs that TV stopped doing years ago.

Yes. Mostly unbiased news, often good science or environment progs, frequently good radio comedy and commentary. I pay more for weekend newspapers and a lot of those are adverts, rubbish and bias. i should give those up

Not had a telly or a licence since 2002... but listen to R4 or 6music daily. Have also been making good use of the iPlayer in recent years.

I know it's not what the OP is asking, but if they changed the rules so i needed a licence for radio and iplayer access, would i pay it? Hell yes!

But in line with the OPs question... I do currently have the choice of buying a licence (since i don't have a telly), i opt in favour of my pocket and don't.

Mostly unbiased news,

Hmmm..... I suppose "mostly" is the operative word.
I wouldn't pay a cent if it was optional. I find it very biased towards England in general, and SE England in particular (sports, news, weather coverage generally). Which is fine I suppose, given that the majority of the population live there, but why should I pay for them? Then they try to compensate by giving Scotland a Gaelic language channel when about 3 people speak Gaelic (and I don't know of any Gaelic speakers who don't understand English).
To call it commercial free is becoming a bit of a lie too; they are forever pushing their own products to an ever more annoying extent.
The bit that really P's me off is when they try to call it "free". Last time I checked, I was paying a direct debit for over £12 per month for this "free" service. £12 per month and there is nothing worth watching on it. No more golf, very little football, hardly any motor sport. Nothing new at all. Soaps and reality nonsense (actually I am not really sure what is on any more, I rarely watch it - it's that bad).

BBC news channel and world service too; why should we be paying for that? Do the viewers/listeners abroad pay towards the licence fee? No.

You hardly drive your car but you still insure and tax it.....
No; I pay vehicle excise duty. As far as insurance is concerned, at least I can shop around for a better deal if I feel my current supplier is ripping me off. Ultimately I can get rid of the car, but I can continue to use the roads by using my feet or a bicycle. You aren't allowed to use your TV if you don't subscribe to the BBC..
