Aah candles and a Roberts Battery radio in front of an open fire, I still live like that today sometimes.

I use an old battery powered Grundig yacht boy (not a euphemism) to listen to PM on radio 4 in the evening, batteries last a whole year in it, while the dab radio needs it's own personal nuclear power station.

Maybe,maybe not, society will still have to function but just under different circumstances!
The best thing to do is spend all your money (if the worlds economy goes pete tong, they'll just take it)
keep all gold,silver,platinum,palladium get a shot gun! (you never know, cheapo £125)
if you can pay off your mortgage do it! they can't take that (unless your credit carded and loaned financed up to the hilt)

It would be an interesting sort of role reversal as all those ever so poor countries we enjoy patronising would be far better at coping if 'the lights went out' than we would.

On a more alarming note the US would probably remain dominant as they are probably the best prepared of the western nations. In fact their survivalists would probably be doing little internal dances of joy.

I think I'd be stuffed as I lack survival skills and don't have the rocking bod and personal charisma of a @rich p to fall back on.
