I swallowed a fly yesterday. Had to wash it down with a glug of water as it was fighting back and I was coughing my head off. I do hope that I won't suddenly balloon up and look like a blimp I'm sure that fly was bigger than an average sized spider too.

Shoud have swallowed a spider to eat the fly.

.... and hardly any one from spider bites, why do people not run away screaming when you approach them with a couple of cream cakes, like they do if you show them a spider in a jar?

Coz spider bites bloody hurt (personal experience) and cream cake bites don't. QED.
