You didn't offer to help carry the parcels then??

Just asking like.
Did that once but went of in a different direction.

Why any idiot would order something to be delivered at home when they know they are at work is beyond me.

Actually I ordered an item from Spain so I didn't know which carrier they were going to use.

Argos collect thing, I love skipping the queue of ticket holders and its usually free, important for NI as postage £ is a bit bloated

I do a lot of Argos click and collect when I can.

Sorry about bumping an old thread but I didn't really want to start my own.

What is it with this lot? Try to deliver a parcel and leave a card as surprise surprise I'm not in due to the necessity of having to go to work...Not a lot on the card only the route number and the drivers name whatever that is.Going to deliver tomorrow which may be another waste of time due to the fact.....surprise surprise I'm due at work again and my neighbour is in and out all day so may miss it...Plus no idea of time they may deliver anyway meaning I can wait in all day if I had the time.

So ring them up and get nowhere. So frustrating.Driver will probably come around again for yet another wasted visit.Would be nice if they could actually put the tracking number down.Baffling that they prefer another visit as they are in such an effing hurry.

Now they think I've got all night to hang round the phone which is handy as im up at 3am.
Why order something to be delivered knowing that you're not going to be in to receive it?

Congested roads, pollution and the huge rise in home shopping/delivery, how could this all be managed? I had an idea, probably crazy, but why don't we create a nationalised postal service? Even better we could include a national network of, let's call them Post Offices, where people could collect things and carry out other tasks.

The whole nation could benefit from the economy of scale and the ability to manage deliveries to reduce the number of vehicles on the road. No more multiple deliveries from multiple couriers to the same point. We could also legislate to ensure the drivers, and their vehicles, meet certain standards. Even to the point of paying them well enough, and limiting their hours, to reduce the need/desire to drive like a nutter to meet deadlines. Some bad eggs would still exist but at least it would be a step in the right direction.
