Haven't drank anything alcoholic for about two years.

The last time I got fecked up I remember doing a push-up competition with a friend (I was very drunk, he was not). Thought I won...Turns out I did 2 push-ups then passed out, he did something like 15. I was disappointed in my drunk self's inability to exercise.

You can't beat a really good Manzanilla, with olives or dried meats... or a nice Pedro Ximenez, with a good strong cheese (e.g. a nicely aged Manchego or a Stilton). A nice 12 year old Oloroso goes well with goats and ewes cheeses.

Although PX is notably undry.

Pedro Ximenez isn't necessarily sherry. It's at varietal description. Sherry is a regional description.

and about a week later than me who said on the 9th January - Pinot grigio and sauvignon Blanc mkaes dry January easy.

anyway - its Burns night so i will have a dry ginger with some blended rubbish as an aperitif to the Haggis neeps n tatties . with a nice onion gravy .

Absolutely, but as I was such a lightweight back then, and it was at a prom party, I felt duty bound to get very drunk.
