Why does that happen?

Had today booked for months, a lads and Dads day out complete with tickets to Noah and the Whale (OK, the lads like 'em). Yesterday afternoon about 4pm suddenly got the shakes, fever, sweats and all the other flu-like stuff.
Lad's gone anyway, but would have been great to have been there for his first 'real' gig.

That's just how my cellulitis reared its head. Been off work for the past three and a half weeks.....

It will only have been worth it if it was flu. There's several flu like viruses in circulation at the moment according to my GP.

I have had the flu jab two years running now and I haven't had a winter cold yet (touch wood!)

It's a well known fact that these things strike just as we start to relax (e.g. holiday from work). It's cruelly unfair, but that's the way it works, I'm afraid.

I remember once when I was younger and in a high-pressure, high-salary job, I had a two-week skiing trip booked for months in advance - we'd gone for the best - fully catered luxury chalet, ski hire that came to us rather than us going to them, etc, etc.

The night before the trip, I came down with the most vicious stinker of a case of the flu. Naturally, I was flat out in bed for two weeks, unable to fly out, and I promptly recovered in time to go back to work!

Sounds about right, i have been saving holidays to carry over to next year for the birth of #2 , in the last 6 weeks i have had 5 days off when other family members were in hospital .
