Last evening, the first missive arrived. Get your maps out for the boys!

Bonjour toutes le mondes...
Ok first things first, im moving to France, not imminently- but it will happen at some point, as the locals would say c'est fantastique, je l'aime bien.
We are currently in a little village called Menesplet, which is as far south as Bordeaux and Bergerac, and so far the route has been London-Seaford-Dieppe-Bernay-La Ferte Bernard-L'ile Bouchaird-Couhe-Menesplet.
Before yesterday all had been going well, with the exception of my left STI being broken on arrival to La Ferte Bernard, which meant I switched to the spare bicycle.
However, throughout the day yesterday fergus felt that the performance of the little Saxo had been flagging and we found him, bonnet open, about 5km north of the camp site. we found that there was oil mixed in the water in the water reservoir - and, as we unclipped and stopped, he announced in his broken French and amusing accent 'c'est pas bon'
A call to the European breakdown service lead to a mechanic arriving this morning, and subsequently taking away poor little Jean-Pierre (the Saxo)... with a suspected head gasket problem.
To compound matters tomorrow is Bastille Day, so we are currently on hold, at the mercy of a french mechanic, a French public holiday, and an insurance company. Hmmm c'est pas bon
