Tonight driving through Beverley, for those that know it, I turned right from Norwood onto Manor Road, then at the RA left onto Wylies Road, before turning right onto Northbar Without, then up past the Police Station to Molescroft.

Car in front on Norwood, no indication on any of the 3 junctions, contravened the ASL and into the cycle area at the Bar junction, and was pulling away from me quickly (in a 30 limit - I was doing 30) past the Police Station. What was so surprising about that, I hear you ask?

Simple. The little, hardly noticeable, blink and you'd miss it, INSTITUTE OF ADVANCED MOTORISTS Club badge in the back window.

Do as I say, not as I do, perhaps?

Could the same not be said for the police officers who sit with the camera, catching speeders, but have got speeding offences themself?
I was watching a police programme, a guy was on their going on about speeders and how speeding is bad but has become socially acceptable.
He was then asked if he has ever been fined for speeding, he had been done once for doing 72mph in a 60mph zone by a speed camera.
So im guessing that the speed cameras read the actualy speed, not the speed of the speedo, which is something like 10% out? Meaning it would of said he was doing 80 down a single carriageway, so 60mph.

pah, I almost got taken out by a BRITISH CYCLING estate car who overtook me after I had done a very clear right signal (onto a cycle path)so that he could spend more time in the queue of 20+ cars right in front of me. Even if I hadn't of been turning I would have need to slam on the brakes.

Unlike the public, a Police Officer has to declare all incidents, and gets a carpeting for it. You drink drive and it's a year on the buses/bike. A bobby would (and should) lose their job.

You got that one right. My real hate is the divs who drive in the middle lane. Most drivers don't routinely do this (90% of 4x4 drivers excepted, of course - normal rules don't apply to them) and are quite good so it's noticeable when it happens. Holiday time changes all that and I estimate the numbers of Middle-Lane-Malcolms trebles or even quadruples.
