There's a Jewish sect (can't remember which one) which won't have TVs "because it's putting a moral and cultural sewer in the living room".

Just not bothering with the on button seems increasingly the norm in this house. We added up a typical weeks viewing recently; it was 5 hours of general programmes and 4 1/2 hours of news - between us.

Any lower and TV ownership + the TV licence may have to be reviewed.
