My new job, if it turns out OK, will be working for a company called Mitie, doing grounds work.

I think I have been very lucky, its not everyday you get two new jobs in a month.

Well done Gromit old girl (I read your post and saw the concerns about working alone in the evenings!)

What impresses me is that you have told them how the job was misrepresented, and had the courage to point it out, rather than just jack it in and disappear. Good on you, the next candidate may not be misled into a job they aren't happy with.
