Very much unpaid. I don't do Gyms, and my running days are finished ( knackered left ankle). But trains to places outside of riding radius, with the bike ( of course ) could be a good shout.

take a train a long way from home
cycle towards home part of the way
take train home for remainder

is another option.

I like such rides to have themes. My last one was "Churches with medieval wall paintings". Visited some splendid villages. "Riding Roman Roads" was a good one iirc. As was Alfred's burghs.
