So.

I'm still not totally mended but am riding again regularly (twice last week and scheduled for two rides into work this week...plus 40 or so miles on the turbo) . Much of that has had to do with holidays and weekends away but...my point is...I have a warning to issue.

My Pysio suspects (by elimination and trials on a turbo trainer) that riding was not the cause of my tendonitis.

In actual fact it was the stopping bit that seems to have caused the problem; Here are the clues...

1- My saddle is high (as it should be).
2- I commute through Glorious London, so stop regularly (about 15-30 times a ride I suspect).
3- I ride Clipless.
4- I place my right foot (the effected ankle) down all the time, its my weapon of choice.
5- I suffer from cramp when I arch my foot, to alleviate this I find if I tense my muscles, the cramp stays away.

it would appear that the arching/tensing/repeating on the same foot (ing), may be the cause of my tendinitis failing to heal.

Time will tell for sure but I bloody hope they are right.

Either way, my advice is to vary the foot that you tab down when you stop at the lights.

Tricky. You should dab your left so you're tilted away from traffic, but I can see what you mean about then concentrating all this movement on a single limb.

You're right of course. But I developed the habit for the right because so many of the roads have such adverse cambers on them that i felt dabbing on the left would lean me over too much.

I've now developed the causal pre ride look favoured by the velominati at the lights. Seems to be working so far.
