Does anyone else share the exhilaration of cycling in summer rain, when it really doesn't matter that your clothes are soaked through because you neglected to take any rain gear out with you, and when there's the promise of a hot shower at the other end? Or am I just weird?

I don't mind it so much when I am walking but wearing glasses it isn't as much fun cycling. However, I don;t suppose I would care much so long as I could still see.

I don't mind the rain, and summer rain is lovely, Spent last 3 weekends out in it, was fabulous.
What I don't like is windy rain, when it's blowing a gale right into your face
& you have to take your glasses off as you can't see out of them, and then you to squeeze your eyes tight so it doesn't blind you & then you crash because you didn't see the pothole - Apart from that i don't mind a bit of wet stuff

I find it a pain in the ass, but as cycling is my primary mode of transport it has to be done. It is not just the feeling of having damp clothes on my skin, it is all the faffing about when I get home having to take everything off then find somewhere suitable to put it to dry without it dripping everywhere, then having to wipe the bike's drivetrain with a kitchen towel to reduce the risk of rust on the chain. Then, when I have done all that I have to try and get the stuff dry ready for the next day. Shoes in particular are a bugger to dry overnight, although I have found newspaper works well. And this is in addition to being sprayed with dirty water when I get overtaken, the stinging when a large raindrop lands right in my eye, and the more hazardous nature of the road surface due to the crap washed off the hillside and verges.

No, I can't see what is enjoyable about it myself, if someone can enlighten me feel free.

Tune. What a chorus.

Regent St a couple of months ago, there I was caught in a five ft of rain in five minutes storm. Five ft is how far each drop bounced back from the road. I say drop, they were more like waves breaking over the prow of my bike. Stopped next to a rickshaw rider at some lights. The heavens! We burst out laughing at life.
