I'm freezing!

I just don't seem to be able to get warm today. On the CTC ride today my fingers and toes were freezing, an now I'm sitting here in front of a nice coal fire wearing 2 pairs of socks, fluffy slippers, fingerless gloves and a fleece over my jumper with my blankie over me and I'm still cold!

I've dragged the oil filled heater out and put it on in the bedroom so that will be warm come time for bed.

It is getting colder, but surely it's not that bad yet! Snow on the mountains so I expect it to get much colder shortly. Makes me glad I'm not living in my old house - that house was so cold if you opened a door or window hot air would come in. I remember sitting there one day in a sleeping bag, with hat , gloves and scarf on! Very useful in that my mum visited once and refused to come again.

Ge yourself on the old PS3 for some Burnout madness.. after about 20 minutes of this the PS3 will probably be warming the room if it's anything like mine!!

Umm, I hope you feel warmer soon. Get a nice hot water bottle and some fleece pyjamas. I had them last night but was toooooo warm!

We have oiled fired central heating that we can`t afford to run as much as we would like. I wear M&S long johns as a matter of course now days. I wear a vest, teashirt, walkers thermal zip up, shirt and fleece indoors now. What a state to get in? 21st century and we going back to when I was a kid and had ice on the inside of the windows:-)

Jesus, if our house was that cold my wife would have left years ago. We have the heating on and the multifuel stove in the lounge so hot that the plaster behind it has all cracked. The temperature in the lounge must be 30 C or over, yet she's still curled up on an armchair complaining that her feet are cold. Oh, and we have an Aga in the kitchen too. When I come in from cycling the house feels tropical.

Cold feet and cold hands in the house, the only thing to do is put on the electric blanket and go to bed for watching the TV. I had to do this a couple of years ago in China during a very cold spell!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Certainly looks like there is. Give it a few weeks and I'm sure there definitely will.

Regards to the central heating - mains gas hasn't quite reached us yet, and my garden is across the road from the house so makes oil central heating somewhat difficult. You can probably get electric central heating but I'd probably have a heart attack at the cost. I'm used to getting away with only using around £30 worth of electric p/m and one month managed to use just £15. When I'm being rather extravagant with the electric oil filled heaters then it does creep up to the £50 mark.

Mine was 10.6 the other morning, I usually let it get to about 8 (or when the condensation turns to ice on the inside of the window) before getting the heater out. I must be turning into a wimp in my old age. I never used to have a coal fire on every evening either. I'll have to start monitoring how much I spend on coal, usually it's about 4 20.5kg bags a month which is just over £20, but I suspect that'll be more this winter. I'm so going to get one of those multi-fuel burning stoves, my dad has one and I nearly pass out from the heat as soon as I walk into the house.

It's chuffin' freezing in my house too - my feet haven't been warm for hours. I'll be getting my furry hat out before too long. I'm about to go out and buy some horticultural fleece for the plants but I might wrap myself in it instead!

My Kiwi housemates put the heating on in June. Since then I've had the radiator turned off and the windows open in my room.

Good job all the bills are included in the rent.

I had a student house like that in the dim and distant past... heating went on one October, didn't go off again till nearly easter. Good job 'the environment' didn't exist in those days () or I'd have had a word with myself.
