I'm Here to Repent my Sins

Hello again CycleChat,

It's been a while, but at long last I have returned, however I feel that with my return I should repent my sins... I haven't cycled for almost half a year, in fact it was only the other day that I posted on here that I was selling one of my bicycles!

(You'll be glad to know that said advert has since been removed, and I am once again in a fit mind set).

I'm hoping to get back to cycling, however I'm still looking for some suitable routes, England is very different to the Channel Islands and I am yet to become comfortable with the roads.

Anyway, I hope that you, and the cycling gods almighty can forgive me for my past actions. I have therefore stripped my bicycle down to it's bearings, cracked open the lube and have given the saddle a good testing.

...now, who knows a good cake shop to cycle to around here!

Welcome back. I can sympathise with not getting back into English roads easily, having had a run-in with a Moton today.

It ain't like that the whole time though so gird your loins and make the most of the good bits.

(Well done on doing a full strip down service of the bike BTW. That's something I think mine would benefit from too)

Bless you my son.Your sins are forgiven.Unlike mine.I have relapsed,i cannot get that excitement back,it's just a chore,like everything else at the moment.Fed up with gardening,housework,well all the lot.Tired and lethargic.

Did a short (and I mean very short, 5 minutes to and 5 minutes from) cycle down to the pharmacists to get used to the roads. I felt slightly more pressured to "go" when I got to a junction, I think it's because I'm now in England and I have the perception of everyone being in a rush.

I just had to keep telling myself that if I was in a car and needing to turn right they wouldn't have been able to get past, so why should I loose a strong position in order for them to squeeze up the inside. I think there were a couple of times when I could have gone but opted to wait till the next car had gone past, however I'm sure with time I shall gain more confidence and be able to judge distance/new speeds more.

I have at least realised what you guys mean by potholes now! These roads make Guernsey's look like a piece of silk!
