If you want a forum where every topic merges into one another without a specific/general relationship to a topic, carry on.

I'd rather have a forum where I knew I'd get a sensible reply to a question in an area specific to the question being asked. It seems to make sense to me that a question about coaching/training, even how to go about attracting people to coaching sessions, fits better in Health and Fitness than in Cafe; which is not a 'general forum' much as a lot of people seem to think it is!

Maybe if it was a Health fitness and training forum.....perhaps you should put that idea forward in the bonj thread?

I don't think there is a need to include 'Training' into Health and Fitness...soon we'll have "Health, Fitness, Training, Coaching, Education, Gym Workouts, Running, Gymball, Spin Class, Back Injury, Leg injury, Illness, etc" section....

...all I would ask is that if people want the best out of the forum to try to target specific topics to specific areas of the forum. Apologies for picking on your thread, it could have been one of many over the past few days, including one which sent a ping message to someone to view a topic on another area of the forum; if the forum was being used to full potential then people would visit other areas more frequently - Admin had a sticky for a while asking for people to explore areas of the forum they did not usually venture into; if all kinds of topics which could fit into specific areas (even if not specifically mentioned in the title) keep getting raised in Cafe then this is not going to happen. And we'll have a poorer forum as a result - why venture out of Cafe and explore when you can sit here all day and pick up bits and pieces? Much better to visit elsewhere and learn from a response from people who have the knowledge for that particular topic....you might get an answer in Cafe but are more likely to get a better answer elsewhere if it is used more effectively.

Okay, rant over for now. I'll have to change my name to Bonj3 before anyone will listen....

You will need to contact the local council, I believe, if you are working with young people so that they can do the sex-offenders checks etc.

If you were working with children you would need an enhanced CRB check - I would assume. You even need to be CRB checked to help out on a school trip now-a-days.

Alternatively, Association of British Cycling Coaches.

BC do a CRB check as part of the qualification process.

You will need an up-to-date Emergency first aid Certificate

You would need to complete your coaching session paperwork, which woul mean running a number of sessions, which would be difficult without some kind of venue or club structure behind you.

The Level 2 course relates to generic cycling techniques and specialist knowledge, such as road racing/time trials, MTB, BMX, track is supplied by additional modules on those subject.

You'll also need to address the questions like:
How likely people are to trust a 19-year old's knowledge?
Where would you coach them?

On the other hand, if you want to earn some beer money, then doing the National Standards Bikeability trainer course is more likely to lead to earning opportunities with local councils, health trusts, etc., teaching (largely) youngsters of 10+ and some adults. There would also be opportunities to teach safe road cycling to adults/families on a private basis, with fees being negotiable.

Suggest you do much more research with coaching providing bodies, talking to existing coaches (list of nearest from BC or ABCC).

If you decide to go ahead, welcome to the club

I take it that you are a coach yourself then?

Montage, I've had an email from my friend who would be only too glad to give you some advice. She doesn't cycle any more because of bad knees but still does cycling training & she travels all over. If you can pm me (I don't know how to do it on here) with your email address I will return with hers. She doesn't mind me letting you have it but I don't really want to put it on a forum.
