I am going to stick my neck out and hope people agree with me when I say, hasn't the weather been atrocious this 'summer'? Has anyone's fitness levels been affected? Do you find yourself cycling less often or shorter distances that if the days were long, warm and sunny? I know I'm way down on what I'd wanted to do the last couple of months.

I know complaining gets you nowhere but it has to be said; the weather is abysmal! There, I've said it. If anyone wants to take issue with me* then I'll be prepared.

Whinging Southerner! It's been glorious, I've been in shorts since November :sun:

I hate the hot weather with a vengeance.
I dont sweat enough to cool me down,
so these cool summers we've been having are fine for me,
I'm between jobs so I can nip out for a few hours when we get a dry spell.

Must be frustrating when it seems to rain every weekend though, when you've been working all week

This really. I always seem to ride better in summer rain, however you can have too much of a good thing.

What get's my goat most is the unpredictability, it'll be finre all day/evening/night but as soon as you get the bike out the garage or the dog out for a walk it pisses down if it was dry or the sun blazes shortly after leaving your house in full storm gear.

Yesterday evening was our first warm and dry Freewheeling ride of the year, we sat outside the pub afterwards without shivering. It was heavenly.

Darn! (Was that the "racist" bit btw? ;) )

I've been doing sod all mileage of late but that's another story. Generally though, I don't like to ride if the weather is too warm. In summer months, I'll go out early so I'm back before 10am, 11 at the latest. That said, the weather's been all over the shop of late and I'm not sure whether summers been and gone or not here yet.

So Southampton will be ok then.
