Had a fantastic lorry overtake this morning. I wasn't really expecting trouble, but I'm always cautious after I've nearly had a few overtake into me....but I wasn't quite expecting the lorry to be completely over the other side and to give me about a mile of space.

There was one other occasion, where if he'd of been impatient, he could of tried to have overtaken but he didn't.

You can't hear it but I did say brilliant under my breath...you also can't see it but I gave him a big thank you and thumbs up!

Wish every overtake was like this ;)

Nice one thomas

I've had a lot of considerate driving lately, people following patiently until there was a very good place to pass

it's always a pleasant suprise

I'm still trying to work out how to edit a bloodee video !
I take it you are using Windows Movie Maker. You just have to import the clip, then drag it to the clip board, switch it to time line view (better for editing IME) play the clip putting breaks in as appropriate. You can then select the little sub sections and apply whatever edit you feel necessary (delete, brighten, speed up, slow down the part etc). Its a similar process to import a sound clip. Once complete you can publish the file or 'save to my computer'.

I hope that helps.

I don't have a lot of trouble with lorries.Im too fast for them.

We all know you actually ride on the pavement

I was doing about 20mph at the time...though had been going between about 15-20 depending on which way the incline is.

Had a lorry nearly take me out, in a small overtaking gap this morning. I tried putting my hand out to stop him as I could see the car coming around the slightly blind bend, but he carried on (I was probably in a blind spot). I just stopped which was definitly the safest thing to do.

I supprised myself - I didn't loose my cool at all.

Might be worth emailing that video to TNT with a 'thank you' - particularly if the reg number of something else is identifiable on the back of the truck (couldn't see anything on YouTube but presumably the original video is a bit cleaner). Does no harm for them to know when they're appreciated.

I had a similar incident on my commute lately - coming into East Kilbride from Strathaven, the road becomes 50mph limit dual carriageway, and then on an uphill a road merges in from the left. Beyond the merge point there's an unbroken double white line between the two lanes for about 300 metres to the top of the hill. It's the one section of the commute I hate - you can't reasonably hold the lane (even though for certain you will overtake everything that passes you in the queue at the next roundabout, so it wouldn't hold them up any to just be patient and wait behind). So you end up going up hill with faster moving traffic passing you on both sides, and it really isn't fun; normally no-one lets you merge left until you hit the queueing traffic, which is normally beyond the top of the rise.

So one day last week, a Builder Centre/Plumb Centre truck was coming up the slip road just when I got by the merge point. He slowed right down to allow me to merge in front of him, and then made no attempt to overtake (although I went over to secondary position to let him get by).

Downright gentlemanly and hearwarming, almost makes up for the Sainsbury's artic which consistently passes too close on bends.

Get yourself a recumbent trike then almost every overtake, car or lorry, is like that one. :-)

I don't think the original could make out the numberplate, but it is unlikely that there were many TNT lorries going that route yesterday. I did plan on emailing them, just hadn't got around to it....doing it now before I get back to work

Hopefully they'll pass the message to the driver/embarress him a bit and tell all the drivers, so that they continue to pass like that.

edit: emailed them with the video and a thankyou message. Hopefully it'll get passed on.
