I'm not renowned for being a soft bugger, but these two video / songs did bring on the onion soup.

Not as tear jerky as some posted but i do think the lyrics of this are some of the best ever penned. One of the most underated song writers i reckon.

Written by Mike Batt, who wrote the Wombles songs.

Some years ago Billy Connelly was on the radio picking his favourite tracks and chose this-

Never a hit and disappeared into obscurity but really one of the loveliest lyrics ever. I do feel sorry for him forever being a womble.

My eldest was born on boxing day and had some complications after birth that had her placed in a plastic box with tubes popping out of her. In that moment, time stood still for us both and the rest of the world became unimportant as we slept in the hospital room at her side.

Around a decade later (may have been 12) my daughter was already growing into an articulate, intelligent and very capable person...you would never know that she had any issues at birth.

Then I heard the track "wires" by Athlete and was instantly struck by how all of the lyrics reflected exactly what we experienced...even down to the Christmas lights reflecting on the plastic box and ...then...the lyric that make me well up even as I type this ( truly)

"Looking at you now, you would never know".

The family know that I cant listen to the track without welling up...fortunately, the track came out nearly 10 years ago, so doesn't get much airplay nowadays
