So I thought I'd escape the tyranny of 10 bladed ultra techno 10000% marked up disposable razor blades at £200 a pack. I bought a safety razor of the ebay - the same type of razor my old man used to use.
I'm very happy with it so far. I have worked out that instead of using a 10 bladed disposable blade, I simply shave the same part of my face 10 times with a single blade. I'm shave-sticking it to the man.

Aren't disposable razors one of the most shoplifted of items?

Leccy razor man myself.

Apparently a large portion of revenue goes to "Research and Development" - 12 bladed Graphene ultra blades are on their way.

Blades for safety razors were more expensive and didn't last as long as disposable, isn't that why disposable became popular? Or has it all changed?

Perhaps. They seem pretty reasonably priced to me, and I also don't like throwing complicated looking bits of plastic in the bin. If I save up enough blunt safety razors I could trade them in to the scrappers. Retire.

Beards require beard management. Best be off with the things, what?

Beards retain food for later consumption.

Best keep the things, what!

I use a twin blade razor that's 20 years old. I have never seen the need to go down the 3. 4 or 5 blade route.
The more blades you have the more chance that the blades will get clogged up with muck. £5 worth of blades will last me 3 months.
I also find shaving gels clog up the blades so I still use good old fashioned foam for £1.
The marketing men would hate me, as I spend a few pence per shave.

i converted over to using a double edged razor before christmas, works out significantly cheaper on blades (can get a pack of 100 for about a tenner, which lasts around a year, as i get 3 shaves per blade give or take).

Also no razor burn and a far closer cut. Just takes a bit of getting used to. Only downside i have is that it takes a bit longer to shave compared to my old gilette.

I use palmolive soap sticks and a boar brush. The soap stick lasts a few months and only costs a pound, so much cheaper than shaving gel/foam from a can.

If you wanna get into it, its worth paying a bit for a good brush and razor they make a big difference on the quality of the shave.

About 4 years ago now I went back to traditional shaving and bought a DE razor, some blades, a brush and a tub of shaving cream in order to save mony and get a better shave.

It backfired a little, as I then got into buying, using and restoring vintage razors, as well as buying lots of soaps & creams & traditional aftershaves etc!

I now have a large bathroom cabinet full of DE, SE and straight razors and all the accompanying paraphenalia, and can shave with a different razor each day for months before I'd get back to the beginning!

Here's one of my straight razor restorations - shaves as beautifully now as it did back in the 1850s when it was made:
