cut throat razor?!?!?! there is a reason why the safety razor was invented.
I'd rather spend the extra on a 3 blade gilette than have a face be covered by a myriad of nicks and toilet paper pieces. there are some things it is not worth getting stingy over (I shave mon, wed and fri anyways)

The way you hold it depends on where you are shaving*, so that varies throughout the shave. The constant is the angle of the blade to the skin, get that right and with good lube from the creme/ soap you should get a decent shave.

There are shaving forums such as "Badger and blade" (from the US) or "The Shaving Room" from the UK that you will be able to learn alot from.

*Im talking about area of the face or neck. Not legs or brazilians! Though thinking about it, it would still apply...

I brought a razor a few years back, someone on a forum had brought 500 gillette yellows... but didnt get on with them. I had them for about £35.

You dont get many mach 3 blades for that.

I shave daily and my face is in the same condition after a straight shave as it is after a DE or SE shave. You just need to learn the technique!

So with my fixed wheel bicycle with it's quill stem and Carradice saddlebag, my safety razor and growing fondness for real ale - I am now completely immune from sophisticated marketing hype.

I use a king of shaves razor on a direct debit scheme £3 a month 4 blades come in the post every month! beats paying crazy money in the shops for 4 blades.
