Twice today I've come up against copyright issues.

I'd been wanting to watch the Hannibal TV show for some time but I'd missed the first few episodes of the first season. I could've watched them on Now TV if I paid for an entertainment pass but I kept hoping it would show up on Netflix as I already pay for that. Two weeks ago I picked up the first two seasons on DVD in a sale.

It turns out Hannibal is an excellent series and I want to watch season 3 now. It's currently being shown on Sky Living but I've missed the first few episodes. The trouble is I've also left it too late to pay Now TV as episode 1 of season 3 has just gone. Season 3 isn't on the Apple store or Google Play so my options are to wait and see if Sky repeat the season or wait for the DVDs.

Also today I had rediscovered Voivod on Spotify. Unfortunately Spotify didn't have their album Nothingface, and neither did anyone else.

I actually want to give money to companies but they don't seem to want it. I bet if I searched around I could find what I'm unable to buy for free somewhere online if I don't worry about the legality of it. I don't condone piracy at all but you'd think with all our technology it would be easy to legally watch or listen to whatever I want. First world problems eh?

Thanks for that. I'm surprised anyone else has heard of it to be honest. I've arranged for a mate to rip their CD and email the files over. For some reason I don't object to that. Maybe it's because it's like taping back in the 80s.

I don't watch any TV these days, it's too bloody complicated to work out all the rights issues and who's got what and where and which contract I need.

It's so much easier, relaxing, fruitful to just turn it off and invest the time in some other pursuit.
Oh I know. I went for a few years without a TV but when me and the OH got together I got dragged back in. I'd rather read with the radio on, read in the garden, go out taking photographs or (shock horror!) go for a bike ride.
Hannibal was cancelled just to warn you, so you'd end up feeling unfulfilled anyway!
I heard it was cancelled. I'm hoping that they're able to come up with a decent ending to season 3 though. The episode titles suggest they're working the story back into the books. Season 3 of Deadwood has a horrible cliff hanger ending that will now probably never get resolved so we'll see.
