I'm worried.

Logic says, I ought to be absolutely shattered after a fairly strenuous holiday (?) followed by two days driving the length of France, and a late ferry last night to finish off. But this morning, the commute seemed quicker than usual, and I felt more comfortable, more in rapport with the bike, generally it felt like a more 'alert' sort or ride. Took ten minutes for the two miles, may seem pathetic to most of you guys but it's better than my average, now. What have I done to myself??? By all accounts I ought to be near enough bath-chair material...

(?) most of it spent lawn mowing

It's the rest and good food. I'm always amazed at how good I feel on the bike when I return from a 2 week business trip with zero exercise and too much hotel food and drink.

Big lawn?
Crap scissors.
Yes, in France, main prob. was breaking off every few seconds to convey praying mantises to a place of refuge - we have hundreds of them on our lawn, I can't bear to think of mowing one down.

You may have something there. Had big plate of fish and chips on the ferry...
