I curse the lack of speakers on my work machine!

I like them too, Radcliffe read out an email I sent him once - important stuff too, it was about baked potato fillings if I remember correctly.

R & M for me too!!

I first heard Radcliffe during his 'Out On Blue 6' days, & been a fan ever since

How they (with 'boy lard') ever got away with 'Fat Harry White' on daytime radio jiggers belief!!

I do miss Stuarts Saturday afternoon show though

http://www.scrawnandlard.co.uk/wavs/dogarse.wav (love the jingles too!!!!)

Both are excellent writers too!!
Mark also got that exclusive interview at Kate Bushes house - available on YouTube (as is his 'Stars In Their Eyes' debut as Shane McGowan!!!)

They also (over various shows) introduced me to bands that I still enjoy, for example;
- Tindersticks
- Airborne Toxic Event
- British Sea Power
- Fleet Foxes
- Arcade Fire

Quite surprisingly, the first time I ever heard Snow Patrol was on their show (Set The Fire To The Third Bar - I think?)

I first listened when he reached Radio1 late at night, his guide to being a musician is still quoted in our house all these years later!

The music is still good but since the station was saved from the axe i've found the DJs to have gone seriously downhill and it is now far too presenter focused. Cut the crap and get back to the music, that is what made the station so great in the first place!

I just can't stomach BBC music stations after the beeb leaned so heavily on the UK authorities to get Radio Caroline and Laser closed down in the 80's. If it hadn't been for Caroline and the like we'd still be listening to operetta on the bloody Light Programme!

So screw radio 6 and the like, and try sommat else like Radio Seagull or what's left of Caroline.

Gideon Coe is my fave. i loved working with him when i was at the beeb. he's not a celeb, just a normal bloke who loves music.

i do get fed up with the celeb presenters, some cannot string two words together. such a shame that Gideon is shunted to an evening show, but it does mean i get to listen to him!

Were the BBC really going to ditch R6? Now I have an alternative to The Long View (quiet at the back no chewing!) Midweek (Libby Purvis, Mistress of The Segue) Moneybox Live etc.

It's the one station and I generally 'just turn on' and find stuff I like. Then again I fit into their demographic of a middle aged music nerd so I would do. Jarvis Cockers Sunday Service I like, although also Gideon Coe and some of the stuff on mid-week. R & M - I like what they play, but they just get on my nerves slightly for some reason.

I work in science and the radio is on all day in the all the labs. Very jealous of the one lab with a digital radio in it. Radio 1 on all day is... xx(
