I planted one in our front garden last year, its only a few inches tall at the moment but should be amazing when fully grown. We had three in the back garden of our old house that were very pretty.

Oh Dear , underneath is not such a pretty sight. Lots of white spots on the stems , and some shrivelled leaves !!!!!

I like 'em. They are very south Devon and very 1930's semi. And there's not too much wrong with either.

Well, seeing as I live in a 1930s semi I can sleep easy! Mine are just coming out now - I guess they're a bit behind because they are in a north-facing part of the garden.

Those are a bit restrained aren't they? I seem to remember someone saying something about restraint being for hydrangea-wusses. The bosom of Anna Netrebko might have come into it, I think!

We bought 3 in France, one red, one white, one blue. The slugs attacked them all and killed the red one but I saved the other 2. Now someone in York has given us a 3rd which I exported and planted next to the others. It has different shaped leaves! I guess being an English plant it's a different species to the French ones. It's also much later flowering.

The book in the smallest room had a short piece on the flower code. Apparently hydrangea = boasting. This wiki article says frigidness and heartlessness.

Just saying like. Not casting nasturtiums.
