In praise of... my wife

It has been a torrid time here at Dump Towers over the last month or so.

Things went very sour at work and I am being made redundant. My van has been playing up, the garage advised that it had been clocked and that I should get shot of it as quick as possible.

Good news is that this week I signed the contract for a new job that pays significantly more than my old one. Like my current job it involves working away from home all week, but this time in a city and once away there is less travelling about.

Now I did have an interview lined up for tomorrow and was due to fly down for it today. Work had given me time off but I'm no longer going. Work didn't want me back in so I thought I'd be doing some odd jobs around the house this afternoon. Not so, my wife told me to make the best of the weather and head out on my bike for the afternoon. Now if that wasn't enough, she also told me that I can buy a new bike to commute to and from my new office when I'm away. Plus, it doesn't have to be a hack, I'm allowed to get a nice road bike so I can get out for some decent midweek rides.

The only thing that could top that would be if she let me wear the trousers in the first place!!!!

Congrats on the new job - talk about good timing eh?

Hope it all pans out okay for the S family ... and yes, it sounds like Mrs. S is deserving of the praise. A sound lass indeed with suggestions like that.

Glad to hear you are back on the up!

Oh the naivety of this forum! She suddenly realised she hadn't had time to warn her Italian toyboy that SOTD was going to be at home so she resorted to the only ploy she knew would get him out of the house.

...but congrats anyway!

What a wife. Sad you're not in charge though.

Here at byegad Towers, I'm in charge. I've just checked and Mrs byegad says I'm perfectly entitled to tell everyone this. So long as I don't actually make a decision on my own. I'm typing quickly as she's in the West Wing at the moment and may be back at any time.
