Living in a village we quite often get problems with our phone line and I've always hated ringing the Orange technical support helpline to get them to send out an engineer to sort it out. I always get passed from one person to another and have to repeat the problem to each person and also suffer their irrelevant advise and instructions before finally they realise that the problem is with the phone line and they do something about it.

Well this weekend I got the characteristic static interference on the phone line again and my ADSL connection was down to about 300 kbps and so after plucking up the courage I rang the Orange helpline. I was left absolutely speechless though because they actually listened to what I told them and rather than instructing me to carry out lots of pointless and irrelevant tests (as on previous occasions), they actually handled my call very efficiently indeed. The telephone engineer called today and sorted out the problem (the static has gone and my ADSL connection is back up to its usual 1.9Mbps).

Before I could contact Orange to congratulate them on their excellent customer service, I received a customer satisfaction survey and a courtesy follow up call.

Something seems to have changed recently within Orange, I only hope it lasts.

I'm not with Orange but I'm having a very bad day of poor connection - the worst one was just after I typed in a long section of a work report - hit submit and lost the lot!!! Next time I copied and pasted so that at least I didn't loose it all again - though it wasn't as detailed as the first version.

Glad to hear that you got a good response.

The static was back and the internet was down to a couple of hundred bps again last night although it seems to have sorted itself out again today.
