today i was riding in to work when the bolt in the seatpost sheared off, meaning a diversion to nearest railway station.

at lunchtime i went to popup bikes in manchester to get a new bolt, and then realised the special nut had gone awol. the mechanic found a bolt and used a concoction of bolts and washers to get the bike ridable for the journey home, all for the princely sum of £1.50.

as they are both a bike shop and a café, i tried their salami, mozzeralla and pesto toastie; that was almost worth having the mechanical in the first place. and they sold tunnocks wafers…

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
Its nice to see that there are still places that go beyond the call of duty to help a customer, and still offer good old fashioned service.

I was there on Wednesday! Mike fixed my bike ( from my silly crash on Sunday) whilst I enjoyed some good coffee and cake. You can also park your bike with them while you go into town.
I would definitely recommend them.

If I ever work in central manchester again it will be my daily park and lunch spot.

A fantastic place and a wonderfully friendly knowledgeable gang. Some right bargains to be had at the bike jumbles too.

the coffee is also a Manchester blend as well last time It was there grown and blended in Manchester. Deepak and his team are great. I pass there everyday on my commute but occasionally pop in for a coffee when the kids and missus are on school holidays so I don't have to rush home to pick little'un up
