Yes. As diesel fuel used to be very cheap, compared to petrol in France we used to comment on the high number of diesels we heard/saw in France when on holiday. At the time I was clocking 16-19000miles per year and running a diesel (In the UK) myself. As the price of diesel in the UK rose to close to petrol and my yearly mileage fell I went back to petrol powered cars some years ago, but last summer in Northern France there still seemed to be a lot of diesel powered cars on the road.
