Where do I start? Thanks to my lovely friends in the CC East Yorkshire posse and their patience I've blossomed from someone who could barely cycle 10 miles to doing my first century! We've had some good times, done our first sportive together and even gone camping. Long may it continue.

As for the virtual CC, you've all given me endless hours of entertainment as well as a lot of knowledge. I love the friendly banter and quick wit.

But my favourite thing about CycleChat has to be the very happy year I've had with Spandex:wub:. Thank you CycleChat:biggrin::biggrin:.

Awwwww! Congrats you two - what a lovely story!

Being at home for a large part of each day I'm almost always logged in and I simply hit "new posts" every so often. The sheer breadth and variety of conversations is amazing. I'm not afraid to try all kinds of maintenance and have picked up numerous tips here.

There are a lot of very knowledgeable folk here who give freely of their time and a wealth of expertise. I'm sure I'm not alone in reading, digesting and then putting something into practice without anyone knowing I was even there. As an Englishman in Canada I like how very British the forums are - and I mean that positively - it's a superbly entertaining way for me to keep in touch.

There's lot's of good things about this website and more importantly the people on it.

When I first started cycling, 2 1/2 years ago, I learnt a lot about riding technique and maintenance, most of which I pass on when I can.

As mentioned, this place has restored my faith in people, with so many good people. I've been offered or given quite a few things from people I hardly know or don't know at all.
Everything from Parsnips in the post (Thanks Maggot) to a used bike frame from User1314, to build up when my last bike was stolen. I've had offers of wheels and parts and lent a Look bike by Aperitif to do the Dun Run on. Most recently a turbo trainer was lent to me by Benborp (who has recently had an accident and broken his collar bone, get well soon)

But my favourite thing has been the CC rides. I've gone from doing 3 1/2 mile commutes to 100+ mile social rides. I've seen parts of the country I would never have seen off my bike, from places just around the corner all the way up to Sheffield.

I remember my first CC ride a year ago, when quite a few of us were getting nervous at the thought of doing a 25 mile ride. Now I wouldn't think twice before riding that just to get to the start of a ride.

Smokin' Joe saved my Rock Shox Rebas with a timely torx-key tip. Mickle put me on to some obscure elastomers with which to refurbish a GT-LTS 4 for my brother. I've read some amazing things thanks to generous book-loans and excellent tips. I've been offered even more free books and bike components. The FNRttC is a wonderful thing, and I've yet to meet a CCer on it that I didn't like.

Recipe:
bit of mince and onion in the bottom of the tray when doing Yorkshire puddings.

I'm glad you think so highly of them, but may I elaborate? (it was my family recipe)

You make meatballs from mince and finely chopped onion, and cook them for 5 mins in the oven in the Yorkshire pudding pan (the sort with 4 dishes, one meatball to each dish), then add the batter around each meatball and cook until the puddings are done.
