Cycling towards a busy junction this morning so I'm always careful and I've had scrapes here before so I'm on the alert for blinkered idiots.

As I neared the 'give way' all of a sudden, to avoid a side on, I had to jam on the anchors and managed to come to a stop before going into some idiot who had appeared from no-where. 'Be careful' I firmly, but with some restraint, called out. The chap turned and looked at me through a fog of roll-up tobacco and and said 'sorry mate' and carried on as if nothing had happened.

Wasn't a car, it was the lowest of the low - a pavement cyclist, the scumbag!

A bit harsh ;) I have to admit to riding on pavements as I'm still getting my confidence on the road, does that make me a scumbag? No don't answer that one

Havn't got sound at work, will have another look when I get home though.

Made me laugh him going over the crossing though - not that I ever do that sort of thing of course ;)

Seriously though, everyone has to start somewhere and that's going to be a pavement, confidence has to be built up. Just started a full time commute on bike (only a couple of mile) and is now mostly on road, I tend to just use the pavement whilst struggling up the bit of hill as I'm going mega slow.

You're right to be cautious but don't worry about going mega slow on the road though. There's no minimum speed for cyclists - you'll get there in the end, confidence and destination!!

It's not the slow bit, it's the wibbly wobbly bit thats likely to put me under a bus ;)

Hmmm. A difficult one. While I understand your concern, the fact that he was riding a bike while smoking a rollup means he was technically Dead Cool.

That's only cool if he rolled it while riding. Even better if it was one-handed while trackstanding.

Ah, the good old days.....

Not really sure what makes you think you have the authority to chastise innocent members of the public in that 'highfaluting' fashion.

Your back! Hello Dom! Where have you been. Good to have you back, and great that you haven't changed!

You're on a windup, right Dom? You can't be serious, and besides, by riding on the pavement he wasn't an innocent member of the public.

BM, he's been away for Donkeys ages (even longer than you) so I think this is Dom's way of saying hello!
