I think I've been banned from leaving comments on the Independent site..
Their comments are run by Disqus, unlike with other newspaper comments where you cant edit and correct with Disqus you can. I've found it pretty good on other sites I've used (ipayroadtax and the Telegraph for example). I have left comments on the Indi before, but this week when I logged on to comment in the "Save Our Cyclists" and related articles I noticed the text box wont let me type anything in there.
Thnking this was my settings I checked the usual - flash, cookies, etc. None of that conflicts and I can still comment on other Disqus used sites.
My only guess is that I upset one or two of the idiots on the Independent (I had posted several stats and links to prove counter to their myopic nonsense) and that as a result I've been booted out.
This wouldnt be the first time its happened either. I was banned from the Daily Mail comments for doing the same a couple of years back. I wasnt abusive or swearing, but recieved an email back stating that I'd breached their guidelines. I have been kicked out of a motoring campaign website for similar reasons (the usual "speed doesnt hurt anyone", I gave examples where it had and suggested a broader mindset, and posted stats on cycling counter to their comment)
I've also had two incidents online where people have pretended to be me. One left some arsey comments on a motorcycle death story which I felt was a bit off, reported and comments removed, but not before people ganged up on me. Charming. Another posted on youtube as me and has upset a few people again.
Such is life!
