Noise is the big con.

For turbos, you have a choice of resistance methods: fan, fluid, magnet, motor (sometimes attached to a computer). They are all noisy and vibrate the floor to one extent or another. The turbo specific tyres are quite useful as they last longer and don't heat up as much.

There are plenty of threads about people's experiences with turbos - this isn't really the time of year to use them and they can be incredibly boring without music/TV and a structure to the session.

I've got the particular model to which you refer and it's pretty good for spinning in the garage during the winter, smooth and relatively quiet. I'd recommend the front wheel riser block too.

Thanks chaps. Any other thoughts? I'm about to buy one now.
