Sorry if its a daft Q. Can I replace 700x42/47 innertube with 26x1.50 tube or 700 (28-38c) inner tube? Many thanks.

26x1.50 (559-42 in modern?) probably not.

700 (28-38c) (622-28/38) might just work if fitted into a 42mm tyre but it may lose pressure faster because it'll be stretched thinner. It'll probably get you to a shop that sells a better fit.

What size is your tyre? 622-something?

The only downside to using an inner tube for a smaller width tyre is when inflated the inner tube skin is stretched thinner to fill the tyres capacity. Thinner might puncture more often.

You cant really use different diameter inner tubes on different wheels

How fat are the tyres?
do you already have the narrower tube...if not just buy the correct size for a fiver or less :okay:
