Inner Tubes

Hi all!
I know the question has probably been asked a thousand times before but what are the best inner tubes or is it just personal opinion?
I have trawled the internet and most people seem to think there is VERY little difference between the most expensive and the cheapest?
Its a 700cc x 35 size I am after for a hybrid bike so I am not going to get any of the slime inner tubes as I have heard they only work at the lower PSI levels?
I have posted this in "Beginners" as I would have thought it would be of use to some that would follow this section.

For a 700x35 hybrid tube you're not going to see great differences in product quality between brands. Tubes are generally a high margin item for retailers, so when the discounters sell them cheap it's more to do with their business model than product quality.

I use Halfords as you can usually get them at 3 for a tenner or better less any british cycling or CTC member discount they are great quality and you can mix and match if you have more than one bike.

Not a huge difference. Avoid pound shop and Wilkinson's. Buy Continental or Impac if you want all-metal valve stems on Schrader.

Trendz do a good deal of 5 for the price of about what I would have paid for roughly 3 and they were specialised make. I remember it being a good deal when I checked around if they still do it

You could mix and match... except half-odds don't stock many sizes in most branches. Best to support the LBS if you can, rather than a big box chain that doesn't contribute to the Bike Hub cycling projects grant scheme.

Been using Continental Race 28's for 2 years now. Bought 10 at a silly price and still got 8 left. The other 2 went on brand new wheels/tyres, so you do the maths.

Not sure what that says about them, but I am more than happy as you would imagine.

Actually, what's the shelf life on a brand new tubes? 2 of my spares have done nearly 4,000 miles...in my pocket!

They are doing Continentals at Halfords now for £2.49 each so will go grab me a couple at the weekend I think.

No matter what brand you buy, there's a good chance that what's in the box was made by Kenda.

Do Kenda make both types of valve attachment? (All-metal, or rubber up to the threads.)

Sorry, but I avoid halfords. I get mine online - probably from Ribble, but I will look around. I get them in batches of 10 and it lasts me most of the year. I think the last batch were around £2.80 each.
