Inserting hyperlinks.....help needed please.

OK, I know how to insert a hyperlink to say another web page, but how do I change the visible text to read something more friendly than the url?

Go easy though.......I'm a cyclist not a computer whiz

Copy the url, type the text in the message as you want it to appear, highlight it, then click the 'Insert link' button (looks like a globe with a chain link) and paste the url into the box. Job done.

Helen, many thanks for that. Now got it sorted. I was on the right lines but did not appreciate I had to highlight the bit of text first. Doh!

The other way to it, is to paste in the URL into your message, put the text cursor somewhere in the middle and type the text you want to appear. You then trim off the unwanted text (the original URL text) from either end.

It's might not be as neat a way as Helen's - but it can be done without using the mouse (I'm a keyboard person - don't like moving back and forth between keyboard and mouse).

I do it this way...

copy in the url - eg http://www.velovision.co.uk/

before it, type(without the spaces): [ url =

after it type: ]velovision[/url] (velovision being my chosen inserted text)

So it looks like this, but without the spaces

[url = http://www.velovision.co.uk/] velovision [ /url ]
