All the cycling shoes which can pass as casual trainers & fit me are way to flexible which causes serious foot cramp. I've seen mention of carbon insoles on the forum before but I can't find the posts. Has anyone got any recommendations?

Or get some orthotics but you'll need professional advice.

I have some spesh sonomas, trainer like, ok with bg soles

I think it's the soles that are carbon not inner soles, they would be most uncomfortable

I hacksawed my worn TT/race shoes. They have a thin (except round the cleats) carbon layer which is relatively flexible, a bit of an air gap then another, thicker very stiff, carbon layer, finally a 2-3mm thick insole lining. These are wonderfully comfortable for long rides but without any gripper pads have as much grip as cooking oil to a teflon frying pan.

While I'm not expecting to find anything as stiff as those shoes I do want a stiffer sole to my shoe because I push on the pedals hard.

Have you looked at the quality shoes from Giro and the like which have a more casual look...at £120+ they should have a decent sole!

Yeah, they don't fit me well. I've got very wide but quite short feet. The problem is this means most shoes end up putting the cleat somewhere very silly for my foot
