aha, it works. 5.6miles to work, not as far as wished  max speed 28.7mph

You could also put a second magnet on the opposite spoke.

This will double your distance and speed

Hey, I never said I'd done it.

(Although, actually I have - not to kid myself that I'm going faster but to allow a quick and easy switch between km and miles on a computer that allows two wheel diameters to be stored. Set the computer up for miles, then multiply the wheel diameter by 0.6214 and set the resulting value for wheel "B". When switched to B, computer now reads in Km).

lol yes could do that too, but it does defeat the whole object of trying to improve speed and distance. Ps, Richmond park, good for cycling at speed around? or can anyone recomend somewhere else. London roads are crap for long distance or constant cycling. too many holes and lights. thanks

Richmond Park is good. Or go a bit further to Surrey Hills. Or ride around Crystal Palace for hill training nearer to home. Or visit Herne Hill velodrome.

is CP good? sorry for sounding dim, but its the park, i will be on walkways with peds'? or is it more roads? Never done a veldodrome and would prob make a prat of myself. Although if its wet out, i need to get some trainging in asap. Surrey could be good, but the roads are so dodgy with the holes, road riding is not much of a joy at the moment. thanks

Not CP park - I meant just riding the streets around that area - plenty of hills.

You're probably best off going to RP - it's about a 10k loop of the park. Lots of other cyclists. Also a few cars and due to the 20mph speed limit they can get in the way a bit - although the speed limit applied to cyclists here too. And the park police are often out with their radar guns. The London Dynamos fly around RP and I gather have often been stopped by the police!

hmmm, this is a bit of a pain aint it. I doubt if the roads are any better then the ones around here, full of holes. the hills would be great though. RP, what c*nts. Good that the cars slow down, but would be nice to be able to fly around. I guess you can do sprints here and there. I also presume that if its warm, its full of car loads of people who suddenly stop when they see a dear? thamls

Yes, lots of deer spotting. You can manage a reasonable lick around RP - and the police tend to hang out in the same places all the time and are quite visible so you can keep a look out and temper your speed accordingly.

Richmond Park is good place to get a few easy miles under your belt.

I've only ever seen the police once, and they were by one of the gates.

There is a 20MPH limit for everyone, but cars will still NEED to overtake you even if you are slightly over yourself.

There are a couple of nice hills on the circuit and both are different. Go clockwise for a sharp steep climb, or anti-clockwise for a long shallower one.

Whichever way you choose, you will get a nice descent, on which it is far too easy to break the 20mph limit
