Done.

I voted for compulsory helmets, lights 24/7, compulsoryt training for cyclists and more police resources to make sure cyclists stick to the rules of the road ( )

Hmm I'm stuck on the what would help cyclists most... I'm dithering ... went with the 20 mph but was really tempted by cycling in the driving test.

this Q should really be split into 2 -
Compulsory basic training (CBT) for cyclists (or a cycling element to the driving test)

I've gone for 'other' on what would help cyclists most and written 'better driver training and less segregation on the roads'. The reasoning was that if drivers are used to seeing cyclists as normal traffic, there will be a lot less grief for us.

Done, I put a bit about minimum distances for overtaking cyclists in the driving test

The poll does seem to be producing a more sensible (and pro cycling) result than I thought it would. Interesting that more than half of the responders frequently use their bikes though

Done it!

I'd be interested in a breakdown of the results- how do the answers from "regular cyclists" differ from "never cycle"?

I put my own comment as the suggestions seemed crap.

A change of attitudes from drivers, improved driver training in regard to the needs and requirements of cyclists, also, have more cyclists on the road will help cyclists in general.

Put strongly disagree on the Police one, as it's a little bias. Yes, police should stop cyclists who are breaking the law...but no need for extra patrols to do it.

I was an IAM member for a few years, but gave it up when I moved away from UK. I was impressed by the advanced training I received and the de-brief after the test. It was useful stuff and certainly made me a better driver.
