Insurance for bike and gear

Going on my first tour from this weekend (over to and around the English lakes). My home contents insurance does not cover my bike (because it's over £500).

Any suggestions on the best way to insure my super Galaxy and all of my gear whilst on a tour.

Ask your insurer if you can pay a small extra premium for cover for the trip or to have it as a 'named item' on the policy.

Make sure that you are fully aware of all of the exclusions and pre-requisites of any insurance that you find.

Leaving stuff unsupervised is possibly seen as a high risk ans you might be surprised by the price of the premiums. You might try6 contacting the Cycling Tourist Club, CTC and getting advice from them.

my policy only covers up to £500 unless it is listed as specified valuables so definitely check with insurer you may just have to change that.

I used this company for when I took my bike on a plane. It cost £11.50 to insure a £1500 bike for a month.
