CHECK your house policy. You may have to declare the bike if it's over a certain value.

If a car hit you'd expect their insurance to pay up, wouldn't you? Likewise if you cause an accident through poor cycling anyone suffering injury or vehicle damage as a result has the right to claim compensation from you, subject of course to fault being proven.

Even if it's not your fault, but the other party thinks they can prove it's your fault, or have the funds to bully you. expect to end up defending a small claims in court, or if you can't afford to, coughimg up.

Get some liability insurance.

Thats why I am asking, cyclists are not obliged to have insurance but it is obvioulsy a good idea if you do any kind of mileage, I have considered it and will be doing it soon, for the small amount of money it costs its a no brainer.

Social Responsibility ? do you realise how Supercillious you sound ? I ask a genuine question as I am concerned and you come over all high and mighty, I have been doign this less than a year, as you cycle you reliase you need stuff that you previsously didnt know existed.
