Mrs SJ bought one when we had a motorcycle. I hated it, too much of a distraction on two wheels, the wind noise was a pain and it was just another piece of cumbersome kit to lug about and wear and what do you really need one for?

Tried it with my son out on the roads when he was younger, theory was I wouldn't have to be yelling instructions at him for junctions/roundabouts while he acquired some road awareness.
I say 'theory' as I soon reverted back to yelling as it seemed to work better. Wouldn't use one for a more social type ride as I'd rather just cycle alongside side for a chat
