A chap brought his wife's kirk maverick in to be looked at today.
I've never seen one before, they're built using some high pressure method of transforming sea water to produce magnesium.
I listened to the science behind it but there is just too much water in my brain so none of it remained.
Sadly the bike had to be condemned due to the amount of wear it's taken over the years, and essential parts not being replaceable as the spaces they fit into have got so bent out of shape.
I had a little go on the bike, it was weird. It was , well, fluid is the only way I can describe it.
Almost as though the rear wheel was part of a different bike to the front!

Lots to look at HERE

Caution, some require an iron stomach IMO

You want to try riding an Itera.

They were designed by Volvo, I think, and made of plastic. Felt like the back and front were connected with not quite set jelly.

This has been posted before but must be a similar experience to that I'd suspect

I've got a Kirk Precision. It's a novelty rather than a serious cycling thing, although I feel the same way about 'retro' steel frames. Ideal for something like Critical Mass

funnily enough Kirk was discussed on another forum recently. they had it all going for them - magnesium is in plenitify supply = sea water - and is less dense than aluminium. the company had problems with the casting - air bubles - whihc cause many frame to crack - there are few around now. by the time the company sorted the casting process out, the damage was done and the production stopped.

they are not particularly pleasant to ride either but remain interesting.
