Wow. There's some hugely intolerant people on here. Car drivers I can understand but the vitriol that faces helmet wearers, non-helmet wearers, DisabledRiders and, more recently, coffee shop frequenting children is surprising.

Before you tell me to shut up and go away, can I just say that I'm not complaining at all. If anything, I feel more at home here. Thanks.

I'm feeling the urge to start a "Most dog owners should be shot" thread soon - keep an eye out for it.

Well, I see that the disabled rider got 28 pages off us. If people were so intolerant wouldn't they simply have ignored him (it was a him?)?

I'm intolerant because I haven't really troubled to read much of it, but plenty have.

To put it in context for those not in the know, Longshot doesn't mean disabled riders in general, just one who goes by that name, and who has posted long diatribes looking for support for his rather narrow opinion. Plenty of people have tried to offer him constructive advice, and it's been thrown back in their faces. After a while, one stops making an effort.

Im very tolerant and regularly enjoy the Helmet Debates again and again and again. But I must admit I am fond of logical approaches to things

My favourite helmet debate thread at the moment is the one titled "Has your helmet saved your life poll" which I think finally answers all the disputes and statistics due to the fact nobody has yet posted on the thread "no a helmet did not save my life, I'm dead" ultimately this speaks volumes, and proves helmets saves lives as everyone who posted so far is living.

OK, thanks for this. I did wonder!

I'll freely admit I'm intolerant, but i'm a firm believer in equality, therefore i am intolerant of everyone and everything in equal measure, including myself.
i find its the only way to be fair.
i'm equally racist, xenophobic, sexist and politically incorrect.
all in equal measure.

Not so hasty, young man - I have had two high-speed offs, one on my MTB and the other on my road bike, and am still living. My helmet didn't save my life because I wasn't wearing it. It turns out that I have a very robust head.

I'm very tolerant.

Of people who agree with me, and who are hence totally correct!

One thing I have noticed on here - most of the regulars in the charged and highly cerebral devates do seem unable to distinguish any difference between those with opposing views, and fence-sitters. I mean, take the middle ground and you're Hitler crossed with Ed Milliband in their eyes ;)

Nope, I'm a genuine fence sitter on a couple of topics. Genuinely genuine. But done on the far right or left are so insecure in their own position that they feel a food chain Darwinian need to be better than someone, and knowing they'll never best their rivals of opposite opinion they seek to affirm their status by picking on the uncertain, the unconvinced and the (sometimes) sensible moderates.

Yes I can, Yes I am, Yes I did...Repeat.
I can be very intolerant of people who think they are better than me when they have no real clue who I am or what I have done in my life...especially people who seem to think they can tell me what to do...I'm all for constructive suggestion especially from those I respect or have greater knowledge or experience than I do, but in many cases recently, people in and around my world seem to talk a good game and rarely play one.
