Has your bike got a rack? ( I think maybe not, but am too lazy to check back through the thread
) If it does have one, you can always bungy the rucksack on top of the rack - just make sure all the straps are tucked out of the way of the wheel....
Also, don't feel, when you do get set up, that you need to spend a fortune on the very best touring panniers. For back and forth to work, most basic ones will do, and you can upgrade once you know what suits you and what features you're likely to need.
