Not saying there's anything wrong with it but was intrigued by this for folks wanting to fly with a bike

(I use the Ground Effect Tardis)

Could the amazing Albopads by any chance be what I think of as pipe lagging?

PS - just noticed something else - the copywriters seem to have really gone to town. It also apparently features maintenance-free zippers.

Kind of worrying - I may be gone some time while I go and service my stock of pants - I can't remember the last time I overhauled, stripped and lubed my zips.

Yes I think Albopads is probably pipe lagging ^_^ What a great new invention.

We should start a thread where we can think of technical names for common old garden things.

Still there is the non-descript (nothing to reveal to the airlines that it is a bicycle)
Will the airline not see it on X ray then?
No, the airline won't. The airport operator will be aware though, as will the DfT (though unlikely to be on any interest to them).

yep that too struck me as kinda overstating things.

I think folks could probably maybe guess that it was a bike rather than a tuba.

When I've flown with a bike I've been pretty keen on them knowing that it's a bike on the basis (maybe optimistic) that it might get treated better.

My bike is always x rayed when I travel. I had assumed that this was standard procedure everywhere.

Steve
It is (certainly from any UK airport), but by the airport operator to fulfil DfT requirements. So whilst the airline will no doubt know it is a bike, they will not x-ray it.

Which means they will not know what is in the frame of the bike.

Scarey.

If it were anything that looked iffy it would be sent to the next level of x-ray and so on, to the point of manually opening etc. 100% of hold baggage is screened.
