Oh that is AWESOME news. I was thinking of forming my own company and taking it over!
Thanks for sharing snorri. Off up there for my annual hack around northern scotland this easter and may well use it.

AAAAAAAGH! Thanks for this information, but already booked my bike on the train as far as Lairg, with the intention of cycling to Cape Wrath (Durness). I'll check out "decoaches" as it may still be an option. I may be able to save myself a day's ride by taking the bus to Durness as it's my plan to cycle back to York.

Very useful to know - thanks.

Paladin: did you work something out for this? I was hoping to get the bike bus from Durness to Inverness at the end of the month. It kinda pust a spanner in the works if it's not available :/

Hi netclectic

Sorry for delay in replying, just returned from Pitlochry this afternoon (by train) after having done The Salmon Run.

I've booked myself & the bike on the train to Lairg on Tuesday 3rd May, arriving 1930ish. I'll be cycling upto Durness on the 4th May (56 miles) then, MOD & tides permitting, I'll be catching the Durness Ferry for the 11 miles bike ride to Cape Wrath. I will be returning to Durness the same day. On the 5th May I will start my ride back to York.

I didn't realise there was a bike bus to Durness, so that is useful information, but I couldn't wait for the 16th as it's my wife's birthday and lo & behold if I messed that up, well - unmentionable things would happen.

Good luck with your dilemma.

Some of you may be aware of the retirement this spring of Tim Dearman who provided a bike carrying bus service to the north west Highlands.
It is good to hear that another company has stepped in to takeover this service.

Bump

I see the service starts up on 21st May 2012

I'm planning Durness back to Inverness over a couple of days, so this service will definitely save time by avoiding to have to take 4-5 days going both ways

Happy days
