but a good sized data allowance on a SIM is going to be needed. thats the biggest downfall of Apple - non expandable memory

Depends on what you mean by expandable

I travel with a variety of systems that give me anything from 64 Gb to Terabyte memory accessible through the iPad

None of which require any data allowance

If only the iPad had a USB stick to allow me to watch movie torrents  My iPad 2 is getting a bit long in the tooth now so I'll probably upgrade at some point in the future.

Just download one of the multitude of media players. I use AVPlayer and then copy the movies wirelessly to my iPad.
There are loads of storage solutions. I use a WD MyPassport from work. It's 2TB and it connects to the IPad via WiFi.
I have the same one for trips where weight is no limit.

I also have a (second generation) Airstash which also acts as an SD card reader. In my case with two 64 GB SD cards - far less size and weight than the MyPassport.. and at £30 - much cheaper.

There is also the option of a Seagate Wireless Drive as well

These come with software that allows you to load and save to the Drive

Some will also allow you to set up a small "network" that allows use of the iPad WiFi to access a hotspot whilst connected to the drive

My cameras are all fitted with WIFi SD Cards which download wirelessly from the camera

None of the data transfer forms part of your allowance

Hello everyone, I now have a brand spanking new iPad Pro and I can't wipe the grin off my face, so thanks to you all!
I decided to go for the latest version instead of an earlier one so that I have it for the future.
My previous iPad, an iPad 2 had been damaged and gone a bit wonky over the years and had developed its own little idiosyncrasies and things it couldn't do easily without some sort of great faff, so this is.... Wow!

It also now means that I can send the laptop away to be fixed because I have been having to use the 'character map' on it as the keyboard seems to have stopped working in places. This meant that any message of length has been a right pain to do, so if you have seen any from me in the past few weeks, the effort gone into those was..... Hardly worth it!!

Seriously though, a message of this length would have taken me ages to do, but on the iPad, I can do it in no time at all!!

So thanks again!:okay:
Did you get an Apple Pencil with it? My wife has one and she loves it.
That didn't appear to come with it... Are you meant to get it as part of it? I saw them being sold seperately, so just assumed you see.
Perhaps I should look in the box again!:laugh:

I use the iPad

OT

Do you have a Mac computer and if do has she tried Astropad?

It is a program that links the iPad to the Mac as a graphics tablet for Mac programs
