Does anybody use Strava on an IPhone 4s? I do and yesterday on a 50 mile ride the battery had drained within about 5 hours of riding. I took a few photos as well, but does anyone else have this problem, or know a way round this issue?

It's normal as GPS kill the phones a solution is to use an external battery charger.
I have an Anker battery charger which will charge an Iphone fully about 4 times.

Strava uses GPS, rather than mobile data. Data is only needed to upload after the ride.

Apple have addressed this issue on the 5S, with the introduction of the M7 chip. Battery life on this type of App is much better.

On an hour ride the iPhone Strava option is fine but when I started going out for 3hrs plus its way past the battery life

You can get USB charger packs or ones that fit on the phone itself but it's far easier to buy a Garmin 200 instead and upload your ride data to the Strava website when you get home

I did at least 5 hours on the bike yesterday and without data on, and I still had some battery left afterwards, and that's on a phone which doesn't have the best of batteries. It also works that way on my HTC phone.

Maybe compare it to Endomondo.

I have never had less than 10 hours life on any phone though they were not on the iPhone.
